Why a wooden joint pin?
A wooden joint pin is traditionally found in carom cues. However, on carom cues, the joint pin is in the shaft. When Kyle was a child growing up in the pool hall, the first thing he ever worked for was a pool cue made by famed cue maker Richard Helmstetter. Unknowingly, this cue had a traditional wooden pin. Kyle really came to love the feel and hit of his cue and later wanted to create a modern interpretation of this traditional joint pin in pool cues. Therefore, Mariposa cues have the wooden screw built into the butt of the cue.
-
How does the wooden joint pin hold up? How durable is it/how reliable is it?
Kyle continues to play with one of his first cues he ever made in 1994 with its original joint pin and has never had an issue (in addition to the Helmstetter mentioned). That said, Kyle realizes a wooden joint pin may be unfamiliar to a lot of pool players and therefore, offers a lifetime warranty on all Mariposa cue wooden joint pins.
-
How does a wooden jointed Mariposa cue play?
The hit and feel of a Mariposa, are by design, solid hitting cues that feel like a one-piece cue. The wooden joint allows for a more natural flow of energy from the tip to the stroking hand.

What is Kye’s Mariposa “standard” pool cue?
After many years of play experience and trying out different cues, Kyle has settled on what he finds to be the best design and combination of materials for playability. His standard cues are designed as such:
• Total length of cue: 59” (even split)
• 1” Super Tusk ferrule
• Tiger Sniper tip
• 12.75mm tip
• Total weight: 18.5 oz.
• Hard maple shaft with pro-taper
-
Do you offer carbon fiber shafts with your cues and how does that work with the wooden pin?
Yes, you can order carbon fiber shafts for your Mariposa cue. Kyle can adapt different types of carbon fiber shafts to match his wooden joint pin. However, like on any cue, this will change the playability, and the player will need to adapt.

What if I’m not satisfied with my Mariposa cue?
All Mariposa cues have a lifetime warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. A cue may be repaired or replaced at the sole discretion of Mariposa cues. You can return your cue for money back if you are not completely satisfied with your cue.
